As a creative entrepreneur your job can take you all over the city, country or world. Inspiration can strike at any time. It’s a horrible feeling to be stuck in a place where you are unable to jot down a note. To prevent the loss of those brilliant ideas, here are some items you should have with you all the time: Messenger Bag/Backpack You can’t keep handy things handy without carrying a bag. Guys, this includes you. Nice canvas and leather backpacks are trendy right now. Pick one up and fill it up with the remaining 9 things. Notepad
You’ve been told this time and time again, but it’s time you listen. As a creative, anything can spark the next revolutionary idea, and just about anything can distract you from it. We happen to love the Rhodia dot pads. Finding a notepad style you like means you are more likely to use it. Writing Utensil You have a notepad, but you need to have something to write with. Each of us has a preferred writing implement. Audrey likes ultra fine point sharpies, Mary prefers a good felt tip pen and Keely likes to write with blue ink. You get the idea… find a pen, marker, colored pencil or quill that strikes your fancy. Travel Mug Being a creative person can be exhausting. Keep a travel mug on hand for when you need emergency coffee. Pick one to match your personality and you will enjoy using. Travel mugs save paper cups while keeping your coffee warm. Instant Coffee While we’re talking about coffee… grab a few packets of a high quality instant coffee for when you feel a slump coming on. Starbucks Via packs are an easy option as they are single serve. Mix them up in the travel mug you have in your bag. Smartphone/Camera We’re guessing you don’t go far without your smartphone anyway, but if you’re not a smartphone addict, we recommend you keep a camera near by. Inspiration comes from the most interesting things. We’ve taken pictures of road signs, booths at fairs, coasters, book covers, landscapes, t-shirts, buildings, beer, coffee, license plates and more all in the name of inspiration. Snacks Low blood sugar is not a good time for creativity, and let’s be honest, being hangry is just not fun. Pack some high protein snacks to feed your brain and keep you going. Nuts, string cheese or protein bars are easy grab and go choices. Sticky Notes These gems are perfect for marking up your notebook when the page runs out of room, or sticking to the back of your phone to give you a clear reminder for what to do when you get back to the office. If you’re really serious, you can pick up some of these awesome iPhone sized sticky notes. Planner When you’re caught up in the moment it’s easy to forget you have a meeting at 3 p.m., or a deadline tomorrow. When you’re pounding the pavement, or out exploring, keep a planner (or phone calendar) handy so you don’t miss anything. It’s important to spend time lost in your own head, but it’s more important to keep your clients and customers happy. Headphones When you’re sitting down in a coffee shop to doodle or outline your newest idea, you might need some help getting into the zone. Keep a nice pair of headphones in your bag and music on your playlist so you can shut out the rest of the world whenever you need to. Get out there and explore the world! When you feel overwhelmed or need someone to execute your vision for you, get in touch, we can help. What else would you add to your bag? |
