Use a Splash of Color
As we’ve discussed before, colors are vitally important to your brand, but don’t let the importance stop you from having some fun with them. Bring colors into your social media by creating a colorful cover photo or sharing infographics. On your website, add in small amounts of bright colors by using colored buttons or a bright navigation bar. Color speaks loudly to a visual audience and using it well will help them remember you.
Use Your Real Voice
Are you a funny person, or maybe a bit sarcastic? Don’t be afraid to infuse your sense of humor into your brand to show off your personality. Making your audience laugh a bit will keep them engaged and responsive. Keep your tone light and similar to how you would talk to a friend. Remember, industry jargon isn’t usually interesting or helpful to your customers. Speak in a way they can understand. (Learn more about content here).

Know What You Stand For
Are you a social entrepreneur or out to make radical change in a specific field? Regardless of what you stand for, it’s important to know it and communicate it clearly to your audience. Customers are looking for companies who are unique and provide a clear message. Whether you are a new business or several years in, it’s not too late to clarify what your brand stands for.

Be Unexpected
Recently we wrote and published an article for a financial planning client about buying a mountain home. The client was confused as to the relevance of the article, but it ended up being one of their top performing blog posts. Your audience doesn’t want to hear exclusively about you and what you do. By giving them the unexpected and still offering relevant advice you will keep them engaged. An engaged audience will be more likely to call you when the need for your product or service arises.

Be Consistent
This is the most important. Building a website and writing a blog once or twice a year isn’t enough. Make a schedule for posting, write with the same tone of voice across your blog, social media platforms and customer service, and use consistent colors and font faces. Your audience wants to get to know your brand, if you keep changing your tune they’ll eventually get frustrated. Organization is key to consistency, grab our free editorial calendar today!

These 5 tips will help you have fun with your content and help customers relate to you. Keep up the good work, and if you need digital marketing advice, schedule a consultation today!
