Being an entrepreneur is one the bravest choices you can make. In a world consumed with 9-5 you have taken a risk and you are fighting everyday to grow you business and see it succeed. But you aren’t quite yet taking a paycheck and unfortunately life comes with expenses. It’s not a sign of failure to pick up a part time or even full time job while you’re growing your business, but it can be tiring. We believe you can make it work! You’re a fighter, so we’re here to help make things easier. Here are our tips to manage a side hustle and growing business: Use Every Extra Minute
Lunch breaks can fly by, but think of how many leads you can respond to in 30 minutes or an hour? Maybe it’s more practical for you to use your time to input receipts for the week or order supplies. While working your side-hustle, make the most of every extra minute. Managing your books on your lunch break will save you time when you dive into your business later in the day. It sounds stressful but in the long run you can free up more time than if you spend your breaks browsing the internet. Also consider waking up an hour or two earlier than you need to in order to give yourself even more “extra” time. Understand Why You’re Sacrificing Time There’s really no denying how challenging it is to keep so many plates spinning. Being your own boss requires sacrifice and right now the sacrifice is having a part-time boss so you can make this happen. Don’t get down on yourself for needing some income right now. Instead, focus on your long term goals. You won’t make it to every party or dinner with friends or family, but you are fighting to make your dreams come true, which is worth it. Keep your eyes fixed on making your dream a reality and you’ll find it easier to make it through each long day. Draw and Maintain Boundaries While it’s important to maximize your time, you also need to be respectful to yourself and your employer. Draw firm boundaries and don’t allow yourself to do work on your business while getting paid by your employer and vice versa. It’s not easy to say no but it’s the only way you’re going to get through this. Be respectful to your employer and be kind to yourself. You don’t want to burn any bridges. Your current employer may become a customer some day if you handle this well. At the end of the day keep on hustling. There’s always more coffee! You are doing what most people will never do.
